Author Interview: Sean Williams

12 October 2011

Today’s Hope author is Sean Williams, author of The Haunted Earth.

Sean, please tell us a bit about yourself.

I write full-time from Adelaide, South Australia, where I live with my wife and two stepsons. I’ve had thirty-five novels published, and some eighty-odd stories, too. I write for adults, young adults and kids, and every now and again I do some work in the Star Wars universe. My novels have won awards and appeared on the New York Times bestseller list, for which I count myself very, very fortunate. I am addict to chocolate.

Ah, chocolate! Many are addicted, so you’re not alone there. What is your Hope story about and what inspired it?

My story is about traumatic healing following a terrible accident. It was inspired by a nightmare, but not one of mine, thankfully. Sam Dix, son of my friend and collaborator Shane Dix, had the dream when he was a small boy, and it’s haunted me down the years. I always hoped it would find a home.

And what are you working on at the moment?

I am working on the third novel in the series I’m co-writing with Garth Nix. Book two, Troubletwisters: The Monster, comes out in 2012.
